Introductory words
Dear reader,
The third issue of the Croatian Institute of History Newsletter brings you an update about our activities during the last four months.
In accordance with our Strategic plan 2013-2018, we have continued our scholarly work, and this third issue of our Newsletter brings you information about our activities during the winter months.
Events and News
New agreements on international cooperation – At the beginning of 2015 we managed to sign contract with Historical Institute Frankoi of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Rome in order to foster investigation of mutual history preserved in the documents of the Vatican Archives. We also signed contract with the University of Mostar to establish new historical journal Herzegovina.
HRZZ Projects – On the recently closed tender for competitive research projects organized by Croatian scientific foundation our researchers applied with three projects proposals: Cities of Croatian Middle Ages: urban space and urban society (URBES), Military life and images of warriors in the Croatian borderline from the 16th c. up to 1918 and From virgin forests to arable land: history of anthropization of forests in Slavonia from the Middle Ages up to the beginning of the 20th century. All the project proposals received positive grades and they will be funded by the Foundation!!!
HERA & Horizon 2020 – We announce that our scholars are preparing 5 project proposals for HERA and Horizon tenders. For HERA tender we will apply these projects: Inclusive communal histories (together with colleagues from Finland,Sweden, Estonia, Portugal and Irland), DIY: Subcultural agency and archive in European popular culture (together with colleagues from Great Britain, Sweden and Portugal), and Traditionalism and innovations (in cooperation with colleagues from Great Britain, Slovenia and Italy). For Horizon 2020 we are planning to apply with these project proposals: Borderline local heroes: Mith, history and cultural heritage on the boundary between Christianity and Islam (16th – 19th century) in cooperation with scholars from Italy, Spain, France and Turkey, and Heritagisation of cultural opposition int he former socialist countries in cooperation with the Polish Academy of Sciences.
RCH in Scopus – We are happy to announce that from 2015 our journal published exclusively in English and other foreign languages Review of Croatian History is indexed in online bibliographical database Scopus.
Conferences
Segregation and Integration of Hospitals – 10th-11th Apr 2015 in cooperation with International Network for the History of Hospitals and Oxford Brookes University we organize in Dubrovnik an international conference under title “Segregation and Integration in the history of the Hospital”
Slavonian forests throughout the history – This is the fourth scientific conference in the cycle named “Symposia Brodensia historica”, and the second one that deals with the topics about environmental history. The conference will be held in Slavonski Brod on 1st and 2nd October.
Year 1995 in the modern Croatian history – this year we celebrate 20th anniversary of ending of the Homeland War. Therefore on 9th Oct we will organize conference to evaluate this period of our history.
1945: crossroads of two totalitarianisms – in occasion of the 70th anniversary of the end of the WWII we will organize conference on 2nd December.
