Ukratko o temi
For some years now, Ottoman studies has developed an increasing interest in the manifold contacts of the Ottoman Empire with the world of the Indian Ocean, which can already be observed since the 13th century. The Southeast European peninsula was also closely involved in these economic and political connections as well as in the military conflicts that characterised this “history of relations”. The lecture will therefore discuss the question of what effects this Ottoman-Indian history of interconnections had on the south-eastern European provinces of the Ottoman Empire as well as the bordering regions.
